They will be held from 12:00 - 9:00PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays.  Daytime lessons are available for home school students or adults.

Where are they offered?
The third floor of the Atrium will house the lesson rooms and classrooms. All Dance lessons will be held in the Choir Rehearsal Hall on the 2nd floor.

How do the lessons work?
Depending on your selection of lesson length, you will have a lesson on the same day and time each week.  Students are expected to practice and study their instrument or subject and come prepared for each class or lesson.  Teachers will give assignments each week and utilize a grading system to provide parents with progress reports as requested.  These grading sheets will be maintained in each students files.

Who are the teachers?
All of our teachers are Christians.  Most have either a minimum Bachelors Degree, or have extensive experience in education and performance. Six of our teachers have joined the teaching staff from the Lakewood Church TV Orchestra.  Others have taught in the local school districts or had their own home studios.

What is the hiring process for teachers?
After completing an application, all prospective teachers are interviewed by members of the Worship Staff.  An extensive background check is done to assure a safe environment for all of our students.  We are looking for instructors who enjoy teaching, will be a positive Christian influence, and will inspire their students.

Are discounts for multiple students in one family?
Yes, but only on lessons. There will be a 10% discount on the second immediate family member registered and continued through all members of the household. Each family member is required to pay the $50 registration fee.  Classes cannot be discounted.

What do I do with the registration form and fee?
Submit it to the host at the School of Fine Arts Kiosk during open registration, bring it to the Worship Offices on the second floor of the Atrium, or mail it to our office at 13000 Jones Road, Houston, TX  77070.  The $50 registration fee plus the first month's tuition must accompany the registration form to secure your requested lesson time.  A packet of additional information and necessary forms will be sent to you for your completion.

Do I have to fill out a registration for each semester?

Yes, because of class advancement and student levels, registration is required each semester.  The registration fee is an annual fee.

Do I have to pay the registration fee for each additional class I sign up for?
No, once you pay the registration fee, you can add as many classes you want.

How do I know what lesson length to register for?

- 30 minute lessons: small children as well as beginners on all instruments
- 45 minute lessons: older students who have had previous instruction in their area of concentration.  Many students who wish to study for 45 minutes are at an intermediate level.
- 60 minute lessons: an hour lesson should be set aside for advanced students.  These are students who have been studying for years.  The teacher will recommend this length of lesson as needed.
- Class lesson times are preset.

Will there be recitals or performance opportunities?

Yes, there will be a recital at the end of each semester, and depending on the student and the teacher’s evaluation, there will be many other performance opportunities.

Will there be a set curriculum?
Yes.  Each course of study will have a basic outline and goal for each semester.  Private lessons will vary slightly depending on the students ability.

Will there be ensembles?

There is nothing planned for the Fall semester.  Although, if there is student interest, we can facilitate as needed.  Future plans include vocal and instrumental ensembles.
